CYPRESS AND SYNCATA CREATE TREAD ACT ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM

Combined software and services provide end to end solution for TREAD Act compliance

Rochester Hills, MI., 15, January, 2004 – Cypress Corporation, a leading provider of document content management and delivery software, and Syncata Corporation, a business consulting and systems integration firm servicing vehicle and equipment manufacturers, have partnered to provide an end-to-end software and consulting solution dubbed the TREAD Act Accountability System (TAAS) to help affected companies comply with the federal reporting rules and regulations imposed under the Transportation Recall, Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation (TREAD) Act.

"The business of compliance is too complex to be handled manually, and even companies with robust reporting solutions are finding it challenging to manage all of the associated supporting documents," Marianne Grant, director and industry subject matter expert, Syncata Corporation said. "That's why we've combined the strength of Cypress's document content delivery software with the proven compliance capability of our CoreTREAD engine to deliver a complete package," Grant added.

TAAS fully integrates Syncata’s CoreTREAD Reporting Engine with Cypress Corporation’s Document Content Management software. TAAS will provide customers with the ability to:

  • Generate and deliver to NHTSA the Early Warning Reports and documents that are mandated by the TREAD Act and other associated rulings.

  • Capture, house and manage the transaction data for the various types of records demanded by NHTSA (including, but not limited to, Field Reports, Warranty Claims and Adjustments, Property Damage Claims, Customer Complaints), and the myriad documents (such as photographs, letters, claim forms) that support the TREAD data.

  • Produce NHTSA-formatted workbooks, run HTML reports and review data in the database. In addition, TAAS will enable companies to conduct basic analysis and "drill-down" into the data to one level below the level of NHTSA component category both before and after the data is aggregated for NHTSA.

  • Audit preliminary reports generated and track final reports submitted to NHTSA. These activities will ensure that data is preserved in a format that allows for easy access and query after the report has been submitted.

"Document management, archiving, automatic deletion, field report submission and report management are critical functions for clients’ long-term management of TREAD," said James King, vice president, TREAD Act solutions, Cypress Corporation. "The TAAS integrated platform will enable clients to easily ingest, collate, and classify documents as defined by the business rules established, making compliance much easier," King added.

The system allows documents to include items that contain data whose essential context must be included in the collated numbers for TREAD reports, documents that must be actually submitted to NHTSA for Early Warning, other required reports and documents that support data that is being or has been submitted to NHTSA and the actual NHTSA report files themselves. These facilities were created to assist clients in the event they are involved in a NHTSA TREAD enquiry as well as for internal operational purposes.
